По данным исследования, проведенного в 2015 году Мелиссой Милки и ее соавторами, связь между временем, которое родители проводили со своими детьми, и эмоциональным благополучием и школьной успеваемостью ребенка либо несущественна, либо вообще отсутствует. Зато Милки и ее коллеги, как и многие ученые ранее, подчеркивали важность внимательного, чуткого отношения к ребенку, даже если на общение удается выделить всего лишь несколько часов в неделю. (Исключением из этого правила является подростковый возраст, когда время тоже имеет значение.)
